Advanced Engineering

In partnership with the LSU College of Engineering, Advanced Engineering is for high school students who have already attended an engineering summer camp. This camp features more advanced hands-on activities, in addition to tours and guest speakers. Student skills in the areas of problem-solving, decision-making, communication and teamwork will be challenged with each daily project.

Adventures in 3D Printing

Dates: July 9 - July 22

In this camp, students will be able to design, model, and 3D print unique parts that bring their passions to life! Using Autodesk Inventor, students will apply the engineering design process to design a solution from scratch, 3D model it, and refine it through multiple iterations. When students are satisfied with their design, they will 3D print their them! At the end of the week, students will take home their files and 3D printed objects.

Computational Biology

The objective of Computational Biology is to introduce bioinformatics to high school students with an emphasis on searching and retrieving biological data, sorting the data and finally analyzing the sorted data to draw meaningful conclusions. While maintaining the theme of molecular biology, this project-based course will involve hands-on activities on computers/laptops and will teach students how to relate the outcome of each activity to a real-life medical or biological scenario.

Esports: Enhance your Game

For this esports coaching camp, students will discover a variety of ways to approach esports titles in order to improve the level of their play. From game preparation and analysis to communication and collaboration, this course will give an overview of what it takes to be a professional esports competitor, and a well rounded student. Students will learn how to analyze game-based statistics and work together to implement tactics derived from such. After understanding the role data plays in gaming, students will put their new found skills to test in an FPS such as VALORANT or MOBA like League of Legends.

Esports is so much more than just gaming. If you are interested in learning how an esports team operates or potential career paths in the esports and video game development field? This two week camp will introduce 9th-12th grade students to how teams operate, explore relevant college majors in the game industry, and of course- play games!

eXploreCS High School

Dates: June 5 - June 9

In this camp, students will learn basic skills in Python programming language and learn key concepts in major areas of computer science such as technology systems, networks, algorithms, data structures, data analytics, visualization, artificial intelligence, robotics, and cybersecurity. Lunch will be provided each day.

In today’s world, computing is everywhere, whether it is in the form of actual computers, cell phones, sensors, or many other embedded devices. Students will learn how these computing devices work and how they help us solve all kinds of interesting problems through hands-on-experience with hardware and software. Lunch will be provided each day.

Exploring Engineering

Join us for a week of engineering-based fun as we introduce you to a variety of engineering disciplines. Through guest speakers, tours and hands-on activities, this summer camp will provide valuable skills that you can use in your future career. Fundamentals of Sound Engineering

Have you ever heard an awesome soundtrack in a movie or game and wondered how those exciting sounds were created? If so, then this is the course for you. You'll learn how to use industry recording software and recording techniques to record your own original music, study the basics of music theory to continue exploring new ideas in composition, and even record your music to be used in a game or short film. This course is perfect for any students interested in music or sound design.

Game Design in JavaScript

Dates: July 9 - July 22

In this course, we will cover the basics of JavaScript - one of the most widely-used coding languages available - to learn how to code your own 2D video game. You will program character interactions, set up keyboard controls, add your own soundtrack, and more. At the end of camp, we will have a competition to see who can score the highest on each person's final game. Some programming experience is helpful, but not required.

German Language Camp

Dates: May 30 - June 2 / June 5 - June 9

The LSU Summer German Language Camp will take place at LSU's World Language Lab & Resource Center located in Prescott Hall room 234. Prescott Hall is located on LSU's Quad right in the heart of campus.

The camp will offer Elementary-aged students two weeks of language and cultural instruction. Get immersed in this unique experience where students will have the chance to participate in a variety of activities learning the German language and culture with experienced LSU faculty.

Halliburton XCITE

Dates: July 9 - July 15

The Halliburton XCITE engineering camp at the LSU College of Engineering offers high school females the opportunity to discover and explore engineering, computer science, and construction management degrees and careers. Campers reside on campus as an introduction to college, and the week is action packed with hands-on activities and tours to engineering facilities. There are Engineering 101 sessions where you learn about the major and career from faculty members then tackle a small engineering project. Students also delve deeper into engineering through a major design challenge over the week.

Tuition includes housing, supplies, breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Reduced fees are available. Must have a 3.0 GPA or higher.

Human Health and Environment

This course immerses students in real-world scenarios, scientific inquiry, knowledge of human health, and associated consequences of environmental change and challenges. In addition to studying the basic principles of environmental sciences and human disease, students will examine the intricacies and relatedness of these two fields as we navigate an ever-changing world. This course also provides students with the scientific principles, concepts, and methodologies to contribute scientific discovery and inquiry needed to best serve humanity and the world that surrounds us. By the end of the course, students will be prepared for taking high school biology, AP biology, or AP Environmental Science in the upcoming year.

Interactive Computing

Interactive Computing focuses on the nuances of programming for interacting with the real world in two representative areas: autonomous robots and the front end of web applications. Students learn how to code a software model within the realities of physical hardware, how to write test suites, and how to systematically debug their programs. Through fun and engaging projects, students will learn programming-based problem-solving skills, such as teaching robots to navigate mazes and play soccer, developing online web apps to read sensors and control actuators in greenhouses, and automating devices at home with Internet of Things (IoT) technologies.

Intro to Engineering

Math Circle: Conducting Mathematical Research

Virtual Math Circle is designed to provide high school students with the opportunity to conduct mathematical research with guidance from professors and graduate students. By the end of the program, students will have a completed mathematical research project that they can continue as a science fair project in the fall.

REHAMS Engineering

This course will involve students in the development, building, and programming of robots to accomplish various tasks. Students will perform hands-on work in teams to encourage knowledge sharing, reflection, and review. Topics may include motor speed, gear ratios, torque, sensors, program loops, project documentation, and decision-making.

Survey of Drones

Survey of Drones uses the fundamental skills learned in LSU’s Pathways Engineering courses to assemble, program, and pilot drones for use in indoor racing. Students will work hands-on to program and pilot drones through an indoor racing course. The course will begin with the basics of flight and signal transmission, then using those basics, students will adjust the programming of their drones to improve mobility and better suit their pilot’s preferences.
